On March 20, 2011 our church was privledged to share in the celebration of our pastor, Brother Mike Goodson, preaching God's word for 45 years. Our service started at 10:00 a.m. We did not have Sunday School, but went straight into the morning worship service. After the choir, the church presented Brother Mike with a IPAD to help him in preparing for his many messages. Numerous people testified about how much they love the Lord and how much they love and appreciate Brother Mike and Sister Kay. Afterwards, we all gathered at the fellowship hall for lunch. We had great food and great fellowship with one another.
Brother Mike has been saved over fifty years. He has been the pastor of Gilead Baptist Church for nearly 14 years. He is faithful to his flock and works very hard to be the best that he can be as our pastor. Prior to coming to Gilead Baptist Church, he was the pastor of three other churches and was in evangelizism for twenty-two years. He still conducts revivals, but not on the same large scale that he once did.
Brother Mike and Sister Kay have been married since September 4, 1971. They have been blessed with two sons, Michael Whitney and Kevin David Goodson and four grandchildren.
Brother Mike's favorite scripture is Proverbs 3:5 & 6. I am sure that this scripture has helped him and Kay through some very tough times and given them the peace and courage that they need to face another day.
